Antique Pedro Ximénez is an intense mahogany wine with aromas of pacified fruit. In the mouth it is a very sweet and velvety wine, enveloping and with an outstanding balance between acidity and sugar. The previously sun-dried Pedro Ximénez grapes are pressed and left to begin fermenting and at the beginning wine alcohol is added to a final graduation of 15°. Since its fermentation has not been completed, a large part of the sugars of the grapes remain present in this must that goes to its traditional aging system of criaderas and soleras. They are bottled from the solera itself, without undergoing any type of filtering or subsequent treatment, thus maintaining all their purity.

Why buy Bodegas Rey Fernando de Castilla?
The Bodegas Rey Fernando de Castilla are named in honor of King Ferdinand of Castilla “El Santo” who conquered much of Andalusia in the 13th century and who discovered the exceptional qualities of the soil and climate to produce wines of exceptional quality. The history of the winery begins with the Andrada-Vanderwilde family, which has a long tradition in the area and who two centuries ago already produced grapes and wines for the production of Sherry wines. In 1972, Mr. Fernando Andrada-Vanderwilde created the “Fernando de Castilla” brand with the aim of producing the most select brandy in Spain. Bodegas Rey Fernando de Castilla develops its Quality Policy in compliance with the ISO 9001 standard, making it available to interested parties.

The wines made at Bodegas Rey Fernando de Castilla have received numerous awards from 2004 to 2016. In that same year, the Antique Oloroso won the Silver Medal at the International Wine Challenge, while the Antique Pedro Ximénez won the same medal at the Concours Mondiale de Bruxelles. The following year the Antique Amontillado was also the Silver Medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards, the same position was achieved by the Antique Pedro Ximénez, who at the Madrid Wine Expo took the Gold Medal. The year 2006 was a good year both for Antique Amontillado, which won three silver medals: in the International Wine Challenge, in the International Wine & Spirit Competition and in the BKWine Scandinavian wine & spirit competition, as well as for Antique Pedro Ximénez, which took three gold medals and one silver.
