Why buy from Mantequerías Santi?
Mantequerías Santi was founded in March 1950, as a result of the restlessness of its founder (Santos Saez), who started his activity as a distributor of fresh cheese for other people, from whom he bought the surplus and sold it on his own at the end of his working day.
Over time, realizing that the product he was working with wasn't the best fit for his customers, he decided to become independent and begin searching for a reliable supplier who could guarantee higher product quality. These were the beginnings of what would later become... Leitmotiv de Santi Butter Shops: quality.
His drive to excel was coupled with an extremely developed commercial sense, which led him to go to the railway station (It should be noted that at that time, goods arrived by train.) and approach a specific person, with whom he began to maintain commercial relations and who was the seed of the Fresh Cheese of Burgos and the Curd Saints today.
He went from delivering by wheelbarrow and bicycle, and with almost precarious warehouses, to being able to buy, at the beginning of the 60s, the first vehicle he had Saints to distribute the goods (an ambulance in World War II). At the same time, the first warehouses were acquired (commercial premises located on Garcia Salazar Street in Bilbao), which were equipped with the necessary refrigeration units for the time.
Over time, that old ambulance had transformed into a small fleet of several refrigerated vehicles, representing a significant advancement for the era. Other dairy products were added, such as Manchego-style cheeses, cream cheeses (now from Cantabria), imported cheeses, and so on.
At the same time, they began representing dairy companies that were starting their national expansion and were looking for the best distributors in each province. As a result of these beginnings, Santi Butter Shops He began to carry signatures like El Gran Cardenal, Carnation, The Laughing Cow, Danoneetc. Over time, these companies have either remained or been replaced by others depending on market needs.
In the late 60s, due to its growth, the company moved to new premises in Begoña (at that time, on the outskirts of Bilbao). The premises opened at the beginning of the 70s and marked the start of the company's expansion. Santi Butter Shops, positioning itself in practically all food establishments in the province of Bizkaia.
From this point on, the client and product portfolio continued to expand, while the company focused on continuous improvement of both products and resources. In the early 80s, refrigeration equipment was installed in all delivery vehicles, and all refrigeration facilities were modernized.
As a result of the company's natural evolution, between the late 1990s and early 2000s, the decision was made to seek new facilities better suited to the company's needs. In September 2006, the current facilities were inaugurated, designed to be appropriately sized (over 2.600 m²) to provide current and future clients with the highest quality and best service.
